walked out and quit my last job of 3 years, so using them as a reference would be suicidal. However, I saw on twitter.com/careercheat a company that will set you up with fake job references. I am flat broke and need a job ASAP. If you were jobless, broke and had crappy job references, would you cheat on your job references too? |

Considering the economy, you may not get a job even with good references. And A LOT (A WHOLE LOT) have had jobs for years (five or more) and did not get a reference. A lot of law firms SAY they do not give references (but they will say something good or bad about you depending on how much the manager liked or disliked you). Considering the economy, and since you don't have any money, I would spend the money for fake references. When asked for references, use someone you worked with (after three years you must have made some friends). Use a reference from DIFFERENT sources (different jobs). When asked why you don't have a reference from your three-year employer, say (1) there were management changes going on and you were terminated in an office restructuring; or (2) you did not leave on the best of terms; or (3) they advised you they do not give references. |

I even had my cousin fake being my previous job employer and he did get one call..that his WIFE answered..LOL I's been 13 weeks and I had some interested employers, but I know it is my references, or lack of, that keep me from being hired. |

If you really feel your lack of references are the problem, by all means, if you can afford the money, then spend it. But what if they get caught off guard and are asked something and they can't answer the question. You had one job for three years, your references does not have to be a boss person - just someone you worked with who knows how you worked. A lot of people do not have great references. You just want to make sure you you're not using somebody who is going to say something negative about you. Did you go to college? Do you have a college teacher who could give you a reference? You had a job for three years, did you keep in contact with anyone? You worked for a job for three years. That should be a reference all by itself without anyone saying, Oh, Yeah, She's just great!!!! |
