Be very careful. So many people are ripping people off with home base business Web sites. These people want you to visit their web sites in increase traffic in hopes others will advertise with them. They do not care if you get scammed. Check out these companies on ripoffreports.com. Good Luck. |

you should consider working at home as a medical transcriptionist. You can either take courses online or go to your local community college and get a certificate. However, it is hard to find a job from home for new graduates. They usually want at least 2 - 5 years experience. Good luck |

Agnes in Piscataway, New Jersey said: Hi , I will tell you quick that everytime I see or receive a "Work at Home" deal, it goes in one and ear and out the other. However, I did try Ultimate Choice Travel, which after only 2 weeks I am making $34 a month just in residual income. You don't sell travel, you only refer people to your own website, make 25% on eveything you sell and is upkept by Travelocoity, backed my AIG Insurance and the advertising partner is Meridian. Now that's dome major players in this thing, so you know if they are a part of this then it's legit. Definately something to check out. Three points that i want to stress are 1. it's Travel 2. It's Steve Smith (Founder and Billionaire) 3. Its early, there are only around 3000 people across the US right now doing this, Get In Fast and Get In Now. Getting in Early is very inportant. Sign up at www.travelhappy.umbizsite.com. Also view our Power Point Presentation on Youtube under Ultimate Choice Travel. |

A co-worker of mine told me about www.westathome.com back in April. She works for the Home Shopping Network (HSN) through them. I applied with them at the time and they just contacted me about 2 days ago saying that they are looking for more additional employees to work at home. They are suppose to contact me for a phone interview. She gets paid hourly and the company pays bi-weekly through direct deposit. As far as the geographical area of the company, I'm not sure about but she works out of Atlanta and her best friend works for Virgin Mobile also through West and she also lives in Atlanta. |

There is a legit company based out of Florida called Arise and can be found at www.arise.com One of the great things about Arise is that it really doesn't matter where in the US you live. Just about 95% of the training is done over your computer. The last 5% is really trying to convert from in-class training to virtual, and I think they are all close to doing that now. You basically become your own corporation and are able to take on "clients". You would be suprised at the various real life companies you can work from from AAA, 1-800-Flowers, to Disney. There are many, many others, but I really don't have a list in front on me. Good luck! |

Tonia, Thank you for the lead on Arise. Is this a company that you are associated with? I have visted their web site and am only concerned with the monthly fee and setup fees involved. Is that something that you can recover quickly? Sorry for so many questions but it makes more sense to me to speak with someone who has been through the experience. Best regards, Brenda |

I've spoken to agents that work part-time and full time just for Arise, or just part time with a regular job just for extra income because you choose your own hours. I'm going to try and get a hold of an agent and get more detaisl for you. |

First: you have to pay a membership fee to join. That should be your first red flag. No legitimate company requires you to pay to work for them. Second: the website says the membership fee is half price until midnight tonight! Ooh, urgency to sign-up. As if this great deal is going to expire. What are the odds that the half-price deal will still be available tomorrow? Again, you have to pay to be "employed." Third: the website acknowledges that "99% of money making opportunities on the web are useless." Oh, but this one is different, right? This is the real deal, right? Please give me a break. Do you think people are that stupid? Actually, this company is hoping they are that stupid. You'd have to be to join this scam. Like a comment made a while ago - We signed up with Ultimate Choice Travel, and are very happy with it!! It's fun and easy to talk to people about travel, and it's easy to do. Here's the cool part - we were taking a trip to Florida, and saved 25% on a lot of our expenses by booking through ourselves! It's not a lot of investment, and has been good to us. Definately check it out - look into the management and ask other people what they think on the blogs. Here's the thing - A retired couple booking through us for a cruise - amounting to about 4,000 dollars when it's all said and done. That $1000 we earn will pay for our start up fee, and all our monthly fees for a year, will around 350 dollars left over! It's a good way for us to have some extra cash for gas and stuff, and a good way for someone who is serious to make some serious money. Check out our site at www.umbizsite.com/bhpeterson and check out the "ultimate opportunity" It's the easiest money we've ever made. |

This is just a classic Multi-Level Marketing scheme. Seriously?? $350 bucks to join and then $30/month is what you have to pay to 'work' for this 'company'!!! Thats $710.00 per year! Then you have to refer your friends and family to join as well. Don't you people get it? These companies just want you and your family and friends money. They expect you to pay every month and then promote the company so others will pay as well. The so-called commissions you earn are paid by the start-up and monthly fees you and the other "recruits" are paying. WAKE UP!!!! |

A rip off? Perhaps, but I'm the one making $350 net profit for a year off ONE PERSON'S VACATION. Sounds like you've been burned by MLM before. Oh yeah - we saved over $100 on the vacation we were going to take in the first place. Enjoy the sour grapes - I'll enjoy my $450 profit. |

I should clarify - neither of us are quitting our jobs. We look at this as a way of having some extra income. This isn't some pie-in-the-sky idea that makes us think we'll be millionaires in a week. So, in the thread of this topic, I wouldn't consider this a substitute for a real job. And also Bosco - are you aware that when you pay your phone bill, you make "the company" money? |

And also Bosco - are you aware that when you pay your phone bill, you make "the company" money? Sure, keep spouting the MLM babble. I'm sure they teach you all the things to say when they're converting you. And no, I would never lower myself to join an MLM. I would not subject my family and friends to these ripoffs. And your vacation: do you see how these companies work you over? They make you think that you're running your own company when all you doing is helping them to get rich. So that $350 profit you brag about (Wow - $350 dollars) is poured right back into the company. There goes your profit. It works really well: you feel like you're making money when you're really just giving it right back. And you're comparing paying your phone bill with having a job?? Are you serious? Did they teach you that one as well? Well guess what, I don't work for the phone company Einstein. That's the difference! I don't have to pay my company to work there. Try again. Here's a helpful link for those considering MLM's:

Apparently you misunderstand the concept of profit. Profit is what you have left over, after expenses are paid. Let me break it down real simple for you. I have ON TWO ACTIONS (a cruise and a trip - both that would've been taken anyway, booked through me or not)$350 more dollars than I started out with, once you pay for your membership and yearly fees. Also, to quote the enlightened one "Don't you people get it? These companies just want you and your family and friends money." Well Bosco, when you book online, you MAKE A COMPANY MONEY. Newsflash - companies make money, and companies are created to make money. I could go into the finer economics of how companies create wealth, but I can see it would be a lost cause. So, I now have to apologize to you for letting you get under my skin. I don't mean to be terribly degrading, but seriously man - ease up on the hater tots. |

To everyone that has been subjugated to the mindless babble of the last few posts, I apologize. I would only recommend Ultimate Choice Travel if you enjoy traveling (and have the means to), or know other people who travel frequently. We compared 20 different trips through Ultimate Choice Travel with the same trips with a local agency, and the local agency beat UTC's price only twice. And Bosco - I wouldn't recommend signing up ones family - it only would lead to competition and jealousy. Just my personal view. I will advise that, whatever else you've heard about MLM, just look into Ultimate Choice Travel. I think the reason many people are dissallusioned about these things is that the company promises instant millionaires. Well, we've been in it for 3 months, and are not millionaires. But, we have more money than when we started. And we will take trips through ourselves - it's cheaper than the ones we would take without being referral agents (we save 25% of everything we book through us) If you are interested, our site is www.umbizsite.com/bhpeterson. I urge people not to take my, or Boscos advise, which are bias in opposite directions. So Bosco - sorry for any rude comments. To everyone else, sorry on behalf of both of us for the last few posts. |

Bosco in Orlando, Florida said: Blah! Blah! Blah! - more MLM recruiting mumbo jumbo. I have been sitting here reading these ugly posts the last few nights not wanting to get in involved but I have to. Can I just ask one question? Any one of you, especially work on a JOB? How does your company survive if they don't recruit? You keep downing MLM's but corporate America is the biggest MLM there is. Atleast in an MLM I have a chance of owning the company; on a traditional JOB, I could never be CEO yet I do all of the work and line his/her pockets and get this, I will probably never even get to meet the CEO!! Sure MLM's aren't for everyone but there are those out there who are making good extra income and having fun at what they do. I am a financial planner for a major company but I sell Cookie Lee jewelry on the side and yes! I recruit and have fun doing. I deserve a ladies night out once or twice a week. Last year, I paid cash for all of our Christmas expenses just from my jewelry business. Bosch, you need to think outside of your "small box" and understand that there are some good and bad. Give us the credit, as adults, to weed out the bad and find what works for us. |

Bosco in Orlando, Florida 14 months ago |
Wow Carla - you have really been drinking the MLM kool-aid too long. You're comparing corporate America to an MLM?? Are you serious? The only remote comparison between the two is that MLM's and corporate America are based on capitalism. That's where the similarities stop! I've posted many times before that MLM's are pretty ingenious in a slimy sort of way. They are nothing more than marketing tools used by companies to have a guaranteed source of income every month. They convince their member/customers (not employees) to buy the products while at the same time recruiting other member/customers to do the same and so on. The problem I have with MLM's is that they are presented falsely as job or career opportunities which they are not. The vast majority of people who get into MLM's thinking they are going to make money, in fact lose money (more than 99%). You don't think you're lining the pockets of the creators of these MLM's?? Please wake up! These MLM's are pyramid's. Do you have any idea what a pyramid scheme is? These schemes are presented by the thousands on the Internet as your savior: work from home, make money, blah blah blah. They are not career or job opportunities! For more information on the pitfalls of MLM's, click on this link:
Or if you prefer to wear blinders, then don't click on the link. And Carla: you said there are some good and some bad MLM's? Where do you get that info? How many have you researched? Because it's really more like 99.9% bad. If you'd take the time to read some of the articles on the link I posted, you'll see that after tons of independent research, there were basically 3 or 4 MLM's which were deemed legitimate. The rest are RIPOFFS!!!! |

Well, at least I agree with Bosco on something. I as well won't recommend any MLM as a legitimate subsitute for a real job. NEVER quit a real job for an mlm. For us, it has been a source of a little extra income. not a lot - just a bit. (a minimum $350 this year) Now, I will educate a bit on an abstract economic concept. When you pay your phone bill, you give your money to a big company. That company in turn gives you a service. It's important to look at an MLM in this perspective. Is my return worth the investment + the time I'm willing to put into it? The service the MLM gives you ($) can be influenced by the amount of time and effort you put into it. A phone company wont give you better service if you put "time and effort" into their company. I see myself as a 'customer' of this MLM, and as long as I make more than I spend, I don't care if the MLM earns enough profits to buy Norway! HAHA - I just thought of an idea for Bosco - see if you can get a commission for everytime you refer someone to the mlm-thetruth website!

It looks like this is probably a dead issue. However, I thought I would at least throw my opinion in as well. With any business, at home or otherwise, it is as much about the sweat you put in as the inspiration. Any home based business, MLMs, included will only provide you a successful income if you put effort into them. Most people fail in the perspiration department. If you expect to work 2 or 8 hours a week and make thousands of dollars, then I have some nice swamp land in Florida to sell you (don't call I'm planning on building a gator farm on it :) ). Seriously though if anyone tries to tell you that you can sit at home in your pajamas and earn $1000 and work and hour a day they are scamming you! Again MLM or not. I come from a family that has had several successful businesses and I can tell you they worked hard to build them! So here are a few of the tips I have glean from those slightly older and much wiser than myself. 1) You rarely get something for nothing. I don't know of any legitimate business where a monetary investiment wasn't required. You need to hear the pitch and do the math.
God Bless! |

No, they didn't get in early, the business they market for has been around over 20 years and they have been doing it less than 5. I also know why they are good at it. They believe in the products they sell and that genuine belief convinces others, yes I do buy the products and yes I like them. I will leave it to others to judge whether such a business model is a scam or not and I will certainly admit it isn't for everyone. But if someone can make money selling a product that they believe in then so be it. BTW, I see actors and advertisers on TV who get paid millions of dollars to convince people to use products they don't use themselves. humm... Knowledge is power so get the facts, think for yourself and make up your own mind. |
