Andrea in Indianapolis, Indiana said: I'm thinking seriously about applying with Standard Data I just spoke with someone there and the fee is $69.00 that has to be paid up front prior to them mailing any information out regarding open positions where you can work from home. You will need to setup an interview at your local government office, and you are able to apply for more than one position. You have to let the interviewer know how many hours you want to work (if more than 30 you will get full benefits paid at 100%), the position you want to apply for, and where you want to work (location). I believe they said the money is refundable upon you not being able to obtain a job and they only give you 3 days to pay the fee. If I'm able to obtain more information about this, I will let you know. |

Thanks. PLease let me know. I wish that there was someone out there who is working for them now would reply. I'm just so leery about giving my money up front because I have already been scammed out of my money two different times. |

Hi Andrea, I contacted the located government office in my county and they stated that government jobs are listed on your local city/county's government website. They do not recommend that anyone pay out any money what-so-ever to be able to access current job listings with the government, city or state. I guess you can say this company may be a scam and your hunch was right. I hope this helps anyone who has thought about or considered using this company to find work. |

I just found the advertisement a government job through this group. It did sound too good to be true. I was given the spill and then was asked for payment of $69. I did not feel comfortable paying that fee up front, so I looked them up with the BBB. The BBB gave them a grade of F. I went to the labbb dot org and looked up the company. This website will not let me post the actual web link so I just typed out the site address. You would actually put a dot instead of the word dot. I hope this will help anyone who has come across this company. I almost fell for this, even though I knew better. Glad I didn't!!! |

Thank you for you help. I didn't know where to look up information on the company. Now, I just have to look somewhere else for at home work that is not a scam. |

If you find anything that does not have any restrictions on where you live, let me know. My email address is k9mallard@yahoo.com and I can do the same to you if you want. For future reference, look up the website, then contact information of the company in question and then search for the BBB in that city and state. You will need the online BBB and it will give you all the info you need. Good luck! |

Hi, new to this. I am glad I came to this forum. I called for information on at-home data entry job through the government, and they are asking for 69.00 refundable fee up front. My dad had for me not accept job offering that would me to pay. Honestly, the money sounded good, but I guess that is where they hook you. Companies like this give businesses a bad reputation; looks like someone would 'blow the whistle' on them. |

This company is legitimate. I am an Employment Specialist for my church and researched this company before referring people to them. They provide a service to help you obtain a Federal Government job. Although some of the information may be public knowledge, they also supply you with information and help that you would not be able to acquire just by pulling up a website. The person registers with them and they are sent basic instructions to get them started and other helpful information. They also include telephone support to help with the process. They offer a refund of their registration if you are not offered a job at the interview. |

After reading about them on yahoo hot jobs, I called in and paid the fee. I am seeing a lot of negative comments online and that is giving me some buyers remorse. I have $69 to risk. Actually they said the government requires them to refund the money so its really no risk. Anyways, I am just wondering if I am going to find a job with them....Thanks! |

I have a lot of unemployed friends I would like to turn on to this if it is legit. This economy is just horrible and I truly hope this is not a scam. I am not putting all my eggs in one basket though. Time to keep looking for a suitable job.... |

I paid the fee to Standard. I should be receiving the paperwork in 5-7 business days. They said there will be a list of government agency HR/hiring managers in my area and to call them for interviews. They also said 85% of people that pay the fee get a job. Therefore the other 15% get a refund. Its a no brainer to me. I will post here when I receive the paperwork and keep everyone abreast of the situation. I really don't place any merit in the negative comments above. Standard is a recruiting firm and many recruiting firms charge fees to take you on as a client. Also the BBB is a joke. I have worked for many companies with bad ratings. Actually the worse the ratings the more money I made. |

Sorry! The employee is never charged a fee by the recruiting firm. The employer pays the recruiting firm to find an employee. This is a BIG SCAM. Do not pay the money. YOu'll never see anything again.

You mentioned a GOOD CLUE. If the web site is poor, you can be sure that their business model is poor. A legitimate business will NOT have a poor web site. You should be able to find out the name and address of the company, who the management is, how long they've been in business, what the main products and services are, etc. If they don't have a decent web site, that's a huge clue to stay away from them. |

Susan Wright in Alameda, California said: What is the name of your church? How did the process work exactly? I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have referred other Employment Specialists to the company as a possible source for employment for their placements and have also sent several individuals to the company since I felt they needed the extra help with the Customer Service Dept. that Standard Data Group offers. Although the main website is available through the Government, there's so many people who have trouble preparing a resume, completing an application, or even operating their computer, I have found their service to be of great help. Sure there's going to be some people that can find their own jobs and not pay a fee, and not all people are going to be offered a job, but they do offer a refund if they go through the steps which I have verified. I just try to be helpful in providing all job information that I have available to people who are in need. This includes our churches employment centers that can be found throughout the U.S. and that do not have a fee. |

The Standard Data Group offers a service to help with the process for applying to a Federal Government Job, which is much more involved than applying to a regular company, or to the State Government which is located on your local Government's website. You are not paying a fee to access the jobs. You may want to call the company for full details or access their website at standarddata.net, to see what they offer, as I did before referring anyone to this company.

THIS IS A BIG SCAM DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE. The list jobs they send you are the USAJOB website. My husband is fighting with them to get is $ 69 back. We had contacted the consumer bureau and our local news to see how they can put a stop to this. The Scam they let you to believe the government is looking for people to work from home, and it realty when you go on the website there is no such listing. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY AWAY. I hope this helps anyone |

I know of people who have received refunds from this company, when they follow their correct refund procedure. Standard Data Group does provide information on both Government Office and Work At Home jobs, which is called the Flexiplace Program. Hopefully this person is not embarrassed over the air that the Federal Government does offer a Work At Home Program, which they also will be adding to their website in the future as I was told by one of the Government Departments. As an Employment Specialist, I would not refer people to this company if I knew that it was a scam. Best wishes. |

Today my daughter bought into these people...so I called them and argued with 'Monica', the manager, about why would they need money from anyone before they send them any info....long story short my daughter cancelled her order for info $10.95, and their application fee $69.00. Her bank recommended that she cancel her debit card because a verbal cancellation means nothing. ALSO LOOK ON THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF LOS ANGELES, CA. This company got an 'F'. |

I sent the book back and 2 months later still no refund, I called them back and ask to speak to the superviser, they gave me a different number, I tried the new number for 2 weeks and never got ahold of anyone I left 3 messages, still no call back. Finally I called the first number back, I talked to a lady Monica Robinson. She would NOT give me a refund, because I had opened the package, and they havent sent me a new book either. So basically they just stole $70 from me.

HOAX. I received the paperwork and the CD ROM. The CD rom just has PDF's of the paperwork. They give you a website that cohesively lists all govt jobs for ALL federal govt agencies and it is a free website mentioned my another poster on this board. All of the jobs require at least a bachelors degree. Heck there was a job that was perfect for my experience and it required a PHD. A job interpreting if loans are in accordance with RESPA, TILA, and ECOA. Any freaking loan officer could do that but they was a PHD. Thats another story. This company offers absolutely nothing and they are misleading about the types of jobs. They make is sound in their advertisments and on the phone that any idiot can get a job and especially someone like me that actually has a career. But it is not true and the whole work from home thing is BS. If you get a job and it allows for flexitime then yes, technically you could theoretically work from home for the govt. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Just go to the free website that someone else mentioned. I will not list it because I believe in free enterprise and capitalism but I am not afraid to utilize my first ammendment freedom of speech and tell the world that this company is a joke. When I originally viewed this companies materials, there was a book with a simple chart that showed the job levels for people with and without experience. It was based on either a college degree or the equivalent in work experience. In viewing the job website, I see paid internships for students and basic data entry jobs. I'm assuming if this company now has a CD version, that the job level info must be on the disk or included in the pack. This is why I felt comfortable in referring people with all skill levels to this company. Jeremy Woodson in Allen, Texas said: HOAX. I received the paperwork and the CD ROM. I have been reading these comments and am so glad I did not fall for it. Any time I am asked for $$ it sends up a red flag. It also seems to me that Sherry H may work for this company. I have reported as misleading to the job website that is advertising this, perhaps if others do the same there will be enough negative feedback that the website will remove the posting. |

I wish it were impossible for these people to post these scams on most web sites cause people like me who are desperately seeking a job & have been unemployed for a long time(nearly a year for me)know these things are too good to be true but we so badly want them to be true. I dont understand how you can work for a "company" like this scamming people, but at the same time there are a lot of people out there are only concerned about themselves. |

I agree. I have been job searching since November and have recently seen so many scam job offers. I have seen them on every job website under so many different names. Unfortunately, when I first encountered Standard Data Group, I was taken in and lost over $70. I received a CD that tells me what website to look on and how to prepare a resume and dress for a job interview. I only hope that others will learn from my mistake. |

Lisa, it's no secret that I have worked with Standard Data Group as I mentioned in one of my posts. If everyone was a brilliant as you, they would not need Schools or Services that educate the public in any manner. I do know the owners of the company and first hand of the services that are provided, including the refunds that are issued, which validates that they are a legitimate company, and the professional manner in which their business is conducted. There is no high pressure sales tactics, or abusive language as some telemarketing companies practice. The industry standard for any company that offers a Work At Home Opportunity is automatically categorized as an At Risk Business and will be grouped into an F rated business, regardless if they are a legitimate company or not. I believe in this company and their efforts in the service that they provide, and will be sure to start telling the people who are receiving their great service to start posting on this site. There are always going to be people who can't follow directions, read the information provided, work their own computer, including reading their CD disk drives. That's why companies have a Customer Service Department...and be sure to check your telephone service carrier to see why your calls are being dropped before assuming that you're being hung up on. I can only hope that enough people that have received hours of help with this company, post to this site and give them a big thanks for all that they do! Happy job hunting. |

Sherry, there is no call for personal attacks. Very immature. I think at this point nearly everyone will discount your comments on this so called employer.
