My husband is in the process of completing his recruitment paperwork so he can report to Houston March 1st. Has anyone been offered a job, gone through the conference call and conditional offer of employment and when you received your hiring packet the salary quoted was different? My husband was hired as a machine operator at 91,000, the next day the recruiter called back and told him that postion was no longer available and he was given a different job at around 70,000. She told him that he would likely be able to transfer back into his original job once he got over there. He was also led to believe he would be going to Iraq but he is now going to Kandahar. This makes me a bit nervous with all of the postings I have read. Can anyone shed some light on this please? |

hi, i am currently under offer of a master electrician job in iraq, salary is correct in my paperwork, just waiting for my police background and i can book my travel dates to houston. my mate is also a master electrician and applied for the same position as me, hes is some way through the process but he has just had a call stating that there are no more positions left and he would have to go out there as a journeyman for less money, and maybe he would be made up over there. so hes a bit anoyed to say the least, and thinking about not bothering. so it seems like this is something that happens but i guess cant be helped. they may offer 5 placements out and get 50 applicants, i guess its first one to finalise the agreement gets the job, the rest are offered the next best place. sorry to hear about this happeneing to your guy. |

My husband is a master electricain and is getting paid a journeymans salary. I dont think it is fair nor right! He is out there using his knowledge, and it is by all means to thier advantage. His license had to be renewed recently and they were on him to get a copy. I am trying to talk him into getting a journeymans card when he gets home on R&R and putting a hold on his Lisence.Just give them what they are paying for. I think personally they are required to have lisences out there and I wish someone knew the rules, because thus far he has been the only one with a lisence on the several camps he has been at. I have been searching out 2 other companies in the meantime to see how their reputation stands and how much better or worse they pay. I heard the one is a better company, not too sure about the other. And now he has had the OIF experience which is helpful on the other Apps. |

They hired me as a foreman over the phone and when I finally saw my contract is said journeyman electrician. They told me it would be taken care of in Iraq. In Iraq, they told me I signed a contact.....sorry! DON'T sign it if it's not what you're willing to accept. Ms Sparky

He is a Master and they are getting him for journeyman wages. And they will continue to do so until people stop working for that. Electricians are quitting left and right. Ms Sparky

I worked for them for 27 months in Baghdad. Luckier than most, but I finally got a belly full and resigned two years ago. They will say anything to fill their recruitment quotas. Bottom line, if it is not in black and white, you won't be able to hold them to it. Also, understand that you are likely not working for KBR, but technically you are working for SEII, a Cayman Islands company which is a front for KBR. It is how they get around all the U.S. labor laws. Get ready to be treated like a child. You will be monitored at all times, be threatened with termination at every turn, and basically be used. If you can deal with it, God bless you. |

Noticed that Vika lives in Spring, TX. So do I. My husband went to work for KBR in Iraq almost 3 years ago, and it has been downhill from there. The goal was to save money to care for our son's needs who has autism. The money appears to, instead, have gone to his head, though, and he has become someone we don't even know anymore and question if we want to. He begged me to go on r & r a few weeks ago in Mexico and then he showed up and left us there after about a week. There I sat with our son and granddaughter in a foreign country. I came back to find that after telling me he had put money into our account to cover his bills, he had, instead, taken money out. I have been applying for a position with KBR in both Iraq and Afghanistan. My husband has called me numerous times to resolve computer problems over there, and yet he has the job. All I truly want is to be able to provide for my son. I don't believe we can or should count on my husband anymore. Whatever has been going on over there, the only e-mails I've received indicate that there is a lot that goes on over there that isn't healthy for most marriages unless the person over there is very committed and strong. The one I feel sad for is our son. He was at a loss when he saw how badly his Dad behaved during his last r & r after getting intoxicated. At this point I wish he had never gone to work over in Iraq. I don't blame KBR. My husband is an adult who is being a sheep instead of a leader. |
